N2 Texas Corps operates two distinct programs, each with a different focus area and varying requirements. Members sign up for either a summer term, 9 months or 12 months and must commit to serve the entire term of service in order to receive all benefits.
EDUCATION
The Education Corps targets youth at risk of school failure by focusing on educational attainment through afterschool and summer programs. Members are placed with one of 17 partner agencies throughout Dallas. Daily activities vary between sites but all share the common mission to educate and enrich our community’s youth. Applicants must be energetic, have an interest in working with school-aged youth, and serve as a positive role model.
Members serving with the Education Corps may serve either a 10-week summer term or 9-12 month year-round term. Please see the AmeriCorps Member Application for more details.
FOOD ON THE MOVE
Every summer 100,000 children in Dallas go hungry when school lets out and they lose access to free lunch programs. Members serving with Food on the Move combat childhood hunger by providing over 400,000 meals in a mobile feeding program targeting youth at low-income apartment sites. Applicants must be willing to serve outside all day, be energetic, have an interest in working with school-aged youth and travel daily between sites.
Food on the Move is a summer only program. Members serve as a Team Leader or Team Member for 10-12 weeks over the summer. Please see the AmeriCorps Member Application for more details.
